This is just the way my Siberian Husky used to look when he stalked and pounced on something under the snow.

what do I do if i'm addicted to porn

Dave Luckett · 24 August 2010

Fundamentalist answer: Reflect on how it's going to feel spending eternity in Hell, sucker.

Ordinary religious answer: Call on God to help you.

Reasonable answer: What you do in private is your own business. Please don't try to make it mine.

Obvious answer: Anything, so long as it only takes one hand.

If the gun doesn't fire, get a sex change operation.

I question that there is a mexican gray wolf. Subspecies don't exist. Its just a wolf.
It breeds and would with any wolf anywhere. Any slight difference in colour of fur etc is ireelevant.
I'm sure the shades of this mexican are as varied as every mountain.
In facxt its of a kind. This creationist says the dog kink is the smae as the bear kind and the seal kind and probably more.
Its a cute doggy. Its immigrated but hopefully it assimilates and doesn't ask for interference on its behalf to the loss of American wolves. Hopefully howls in the same way and doesn't hyphenate its identity. Be a team member and not another team on the bench.

The best part of this picture for me is the greenery. I can remember when Brookfield Zoo was mostly grim, bare cement cages with one "specimen" animal in each. It's great to see it's turned away from that.

6.3 + 1.5 bonus for "dog kink" = 7.8 Nice job Robert.

Hmmm.... porn and dog kinks in the same thread. I think this is getting to be too much for me.

That should be the next photo contest: get a picture of a threatened/endangered species eating an invasive species. Call it the "revenge" category. :)

The National Center for Science Education seems to have had its domain name bought up within the last half day. I can’t find it under ncse.org or ncse.com any more.

Does any of the PT crew know what happened?

I don’t know where else to post this question.

Mike Elzinga · 24 August 2010

The NCSE doesn’t appear to be under ncseweb.com either. Strange.

Now that is just plain weird. I have that link in my favorites, and I have been using it right along. But just within the last half hour, it pulled up some marketing organization. When I checked whois, the domain name was shown to be assigned as of today to another business. Now it works again.

Wonderful, isn't it? Sheer make-it-up-as-you-go bafflegab. You, too, can sound like this, and all you have to do is to let go completely of your tired old conservative notions that language should follow conventions, or that statements about the Universe should in some way be related to reality.

NCSE's hosting services' server was down. Its back up now.

So when their server goes down it defaults to a commercial message? Lovely.

I hope that it is archived in its entirety. It would most certainly serve as a wonderful example of the perils of posting when the connection between brain and fingertips has been severed.

Ah so. Thanks. I had recently listened to a talk by Genie in which she alluded to some domain competition or conflict issues. I thought perhaps NCSE lost the battle. But usually when I try to access a domain that is temporarily down, I don’t end up at another organization with the same initials in its logo. The check of Arin whois indicated the domain name had been assigned to this company that very day. Weird. Well, it seems fine now. We certainly don’t want to loose NCSE.

I'm so happy to see this was taken at Brookfield Zoo in IL - I work there as a docent!

Robert Byers made a series of semi-literate assertions. "I question that there is a mexican gray wolf" And your data are? The biological basis is what exactly? And the "Upper case" on your keyboard is claiming political asylum where?

"Subspecies don’t exist" Subspecies; a taxonomic group that is a subdivision of a species: usually occurs because of isolation within a species ref: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/subspecies

"Its just a wolf. It breeds and would with any wolf anywhere". See above definition. Also try studying genetics, particularly the idea of genetic drift.

"Any slight difference in colour of fur etc is ireelevant. I’m sure the shades of this mexican are as varied as every mountain". How poetic! How irrelevant!

"In facxt its of a kind". What the hell does he mean? Does he know? Are any of the remaining brain cells getting any glucose?

"This creationist says the dog kink is the smae as the bear kind and the seal kind and probably more. Its a cute doggy. Its immigrated but hopefully it assimilates and doesn’t ask for interference on its behalf to the loss of American wolves. Hopefully howls in the same way and doesn’t hyphenate its identity".

"This creationist" should perhaps learn to read and write before composing.

Kinky dogs? And porn addictions in the same thread? This is a mind-expanding blog, to be sure.

"It's a cute doggy....". Some one please introduce Mr Byers to the nearest pack of Mexican Grey Wolves. It should move him up the Darwin Awards league table quickly and terminally. This would be a blessing for the remainder of the human species.

"Be a team member and not another team on the bench". And? I am not a US citizen; could some one translate that for me?

Dave Luckett · 24 September 2010

Welcome, Macturk, and thrice welcome to what we call, for want of a better term, the brain of Robert Byers. It is often on display in these parts, to the wonder and delight of all who behold it.

All wolves are of the same kind, says Byers, but this is only small beans to the mighty engine of his intellect. Bears and seals are, too, but even this pales beside his crowning taxonomic achievement. For yes! He is able to inform us that koalas and polar bears are also of the same kind, as revealed to him by God, personally. (God talks to Byers all the time, you see.)

MacTurk · 24 September 2010

The depth of stupidity/glucose starvation is evident in the thread http://pandasthumb.org/archives/2010/08/birdwatching-fo.html#comment-panels

He actually posted again, asking "Do I spell that bad?". The man has no capacity to stand back and look at what he is doing.

Cannot read, cannot write, no critical analysis faculty, and everything must be bent, hammered and twisted into his particular sky god myth text, otherwise civilization as we know it will collapse.

Calilasseia · 27 September 2010

Oh bloody hell. Byers has posted here of all places ... an Internet resource maintained by a tenured biologist, and which attracts postings from other tenured biologists ... and in doing so, provides possibly THE archetype for the Dunning-Kruger effect. Sigh.

Incidentally, I found this out whilst performing a Google Search on "Robert Byers polar bears". If you haven't seen his world famous polar bears post, over at what used to be the Richard Dawkins Forums, this will give you a truly terrifying insight into the calibre of his ... I find it extremely difficult to dignify them using the word "ideas".

Here is the post in question. Please, do NOT read this whilst any liquid beverages are within reach, as I shall not be held responsible for the consequences.

You're gonna love this: Byers isn't either. I'm embarrassed to say it, but he's Canadian. Doesn't stop him from beaking off about the US constitution, though. One too many frozen pucks to the head. Probably a goalie.
