Giggle.

Kevin B · 13 February 2009

Shall we ask the ID proponents to elucidate the client requirement that led to this particular Design?

Andre · 13 February 2009

This is most appropriate scientific name EVER!

Andre · 13 February 2009

"the" most, I mean...

Science Nut · 13 February 2009

Couldn't someone have dug a deeper grave?

Alas, he died happy.

(Sorry...couldn't help myself.)

JimNorth · 13 February 2009

Is this an incantation put forth by Harry Potter on a date? "Phallus impudicus"

Ian · 13 February 2009

This is a fun guy on grass. Don't let it happen to you!

stevaroni · 13 February 2009

The street performer was sure that his new act - naked machete juggling - would finally give him the advantage over the other thespians in the park...

James F · 13 February 2009

Publicity still from the new film Morning Wood of the Living Dead.

Henry J · 13 February 2009

Must be a fun guy...

Stacy S. · 13 February 2009

Eeeeewww! It's all wrinkly. ;-)

nunyer · 13 February 2009

"No, sweetheart, that's not the edible kind."

"Your Honor, I'd like to present Exhibit A in the matter of Bobbitt v. Bobbitt."

Concerned at the spread of the black oil from his eyes, Mulder took the last, most drastic precaution. Scully breathed a sigh of relief, and her headaches promptly disappeared.

Will somebody please stop to think about the detrimental effect such images have on the purity of thought of our female servants?

nunyer · 13 February 2009

Is this PT's way of announcing that the stimulus package passed?

[/nastiness, really]

Okay Matt, I know that this is suppose to be a mushroom, but I'm completely stumped. BTW, my review of you know what is now at Amazon. Hope you and TE like it a lot. Ditto Gary Hurd too, and I really emphasize with his voting problems there, but alas he should grin and bear it (I've tried.).

David Grow · 13 February 2009

Years ago, this mushroom would pop up in our front yard over night, causing my wife to run out first thing in the morning to smash them with a broom before we embarrassed the neighbors. But I must say our Phalus impudica was much larger. David

My brief googling suggests "edible" but not "palatable". (I will refrain from further comment which might get me into trouble.)

Yes they are edible, I've been told that they sometimes pop up in Chinese cuisine.

Paul Burnett · 13 February 2009

If you think the photo above is bad, check the Phallus hadriani, sixth picture down at http://www.mushroomexpert.com/stinkhorn_fame.html. You can't make up stuff like this.

Adrian Thysse · 13 February 2009

I have one named after me - Phallus hadriani...(blush)

Richard · 14 February 2009

I'm just glad that someone's put up a fungus picture for a change, I love fungi. I'd like to see an entomophagous one next, I think they're beautiful!

jkc · 14 February 2009

Based on this picture, I would have assumed that God had a preference for circumcision, but after looking at the stinkhorn website, I'm not so sure...

Stuart Weinstein · 14 February 2009

Looks like it was created in the image of an IDer

stevaroni · 14 February 2009

I believe it. I've spent time in China and many, many, penis-shaped things pop up in Chinese cuisine. Most of them are penises.

Matt Young · 14 February 2009

Yes, just saw it - many thanks! (For the uninitiated, you know what is Why Intelligent Design Fails, edited by me and Taner Edis.)

Anne · 14 February 2009

I'll have mine with a side of 2 Kiwi please ....

RamziD · 16 February 2009

If the head of my phallus looked like that, I would commit suicide.

Jeff P · 17 February 2009

Usually found growing close to cotton balls :)

Keelyn K · 18 February 2009

I think it is sort of ...cute. Well, at the very least, it has ...potential. :)

Kenneth Kaczor · 18 February 2009

Heh, I've found these in my yard. Seemed like they grew overnight. My instant thought was, "My god, my yard is being invaded by penises!"
