Thankfully, the religionists aren't quite as powerful north of the 49th - not for a lack of trying though. Google.com is no doubt afraid to offend them is the US of A -too bad!

The Darwin Day decoration is up on Google.com now.
Google.ph has the DDay logo for quite a while now, but Google.com hasn't. I've cleared the browser cache twice. Weird.

Many of the European countries, including for instance, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Russia, Poland, Rumania (and probably others but here I stopped checking) do have the special Darwin Day logo. The logo does appear when, after logging into www.google.xx, where xx is the code for the country, the visitor takes the trouble of switching to the local language -- or languages as is the case for instance on the Spanish home page. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life!

I suspect that the logo change is based on nothing more sinister than local time zones. Google.com had the Darwin logo up late last night in the Pacific time zone.

Yes, that very small corner of Seattle that is home to Cascadia/Discovery Institute must be having some heartburn. East of Seattle in small town WA where I live, however, one of the churches is going to be showing "Expelled" tonight at the same time I give my Darwin/Evolution lecture. Sigh...

Well, Presidents' Day, the official legal holiday derived from Lincoln's birthday, isn't until Monday. So they've still got a chance.
