On December 1st and 2nd, there will be a series of four lectures by Sean Carroll and David Kingsley offered by the HHMI. Even if you aren't in a fabulously well-connected East coast city, though, you'll be able to watch it—it's going to be webcast (via Real, which is unfortunate…I don't care for them much).
It should be excellent!

Go download VideoLAN Client or something. AFAIK, it handles pretty much any kind of streaming you could care to throw at it.

Real is among the worst software ever designed (though KwikXML comes close) but the way around it is, you can get a package of the real codecs for windows media player, and never have to use Real's own player. I forgot where I got that package, just look around the internet.

there's a thing called "realalternative" which installs a codec so real media plays in a normal media player, but very importantly it comes packaged with a thing called "media player classic", which has the traditional simple MP interface, and you should use it for playing everything

The topic for this years HHMI lectures is on Evolution. Why in the world in more than 10 years of the lecture series should they choose this topic this year. Looks like a political statement to me :D

I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has positive side. It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.
