10,000 and going

Today, Panda’s Thumb has experienced its highest traffic yet. While the daily hits were growing quite solidly, PT managed to attract over 10,000 visits with over 14,000 page views. [oops make that 11,500 and 16,000. At this rate PT is 3 days away from a million visits]

Congratulations to a fantastic team. Check out the stats for This Month

Pim,

The sitemeter is a little misleading because we recently changed how we used it. Here is a graph derived from server logs. Feel free to edit your post to add it as a figure.

Congratulations from me as well. This site has it all: Science, Politics and news from all aspects of the ongoing campaign against science. Add as an extra bonus the free-for-all commentaries. For me its required reading every day.

Keep it up!

PS: I wonder, how many different readers are coming here?

As I understand it the site meter now registers all pages not just the home page. So if another website links to a subpage url on PT, it would not have counted before and now it does.
Despite all this we have seen an incredible increase in hits recently

I'm more interested in how long they keep visiting?

My 'Creation "Science" Debunked' website has had a sharp increase in traffic lately too, and I also had a spike in the number of people signing up to the DebunkCreation email list. I suspect we can thank Dubya for this. The increased attention that The Shrub has focused on ID, has increased the number of people who recognize it for the BS it is. Note to IDers; careful what you wish for. You might get it.

Re "stats for This Month"

I reckon the 9th was when the server was down for a while.

Nice stats, is there a particular story you published that corresponded with the sharp increase?

Gratz on the hits. Offtopic, you folks may want to check out the .com domain of your name. It is being squatted on with pleas for religious sites to pick up the domain.

While this is interesting, I find it to be not one of the better (i.e. informative) statistics. One thing that might be interesting to see, however, would be the number of sessions and how they have expanded. Since this would better track the number of users (no matter how many pages they opened up during a session), it might give a bit more useful feedback.

On the other hand, reaching the 1 million pages served mark is something worth cheering about. While it might not be a useful server statistic, it does show that you are making a difference.

A lot of people are searching for satellite photos of New Orleans and finding Mike's post from a few days ago.

I think it was already taken before we set up this site.
